TAMALE NORTH: CONFUSION ROCKS NPP AS ELECTORAL AREA AND POLLING STATION EXECUTIVES SPLIT HEADS OVER SUSPENSION OF CHAIRMAN

Confusion has rocked the camp of NPP in the Tamale North Constituency as Polling Station and Electoral Area Coordinators split heads over the suspension of the Constituency Chairman, Mohammed Sadat(Chairman Short) over misconduct.

While some Polling Station and Electoral Area Executives in the Tamale North Constituency have kicked against the decision by the Northern Regional Executives to suspend constituency Chairman, Mohammed Sadat, others have welcomed the decision wholeheartedly, stating that is a bold step capable of restoring sanity to the party.

In a response to a petition brought against ‘Chairman Short’ by electoral area and polling station executives, numbering about 50 people, the Northern Regional Executive Committee suspended the Tamale North Chairman from holding himself as the chairman of the constituency over misconduct.

Among other things, he has been accused of shooting and injuring Mr. Karim Alhassan in a brawl that occurred on the night of 17th January 2025.

In sharp contrast, some Electoral area and Polling Station Executives in the Tamale North constituency have kicked against the decision of his suspension, insisting that it was procedurally flawed, substantively unjust, and detrimental to the unity and cohesion of the party in the constituency.

They believe that the action of the NPP Northern Regional Executive Committee led by the regional chairman constitutes a breach of natural justice as ‘Chairman Short’ was not given a fair hearing when the petition was brought against him.

The Electoral area and Polling Station Executives also indicated that signatories were forged impersonating some of the petitioners who claimed no knowledge about the petition in question.

At a press conference in Tamale North on Sunday 26th January 2025, the group called on the Regional Executives to reinstate the Tamale North Constituency Chairman to curb disunity if not chaos within the party in the area.

Meanwhile, Another Group of Polling Station and Electoral Area Executives in the Tamale North Constituency are backing the decision of the Northern Regional Executive Committee to suspend constituency Chairman, Mohammed Sadat from the position, stressing his removal is long overdue as his misbehavior has reached a crescendo.

Among other things, Chairman Shot is accused of shooting to injure a Polling Station Organizer in the Tamale North Constituency.

To this end, the group justified the action of the Regional Executives warning against revocation of the decision as it will have dire consequences on the constituency.
