The Managers of Abukari Tia Education Fund have disbursed the first tranche of funds to support students pursuing education across various tertiary Institutions.
This follows an application to the Executive Committee of the fund to access the scholarship opportunity through the Selection Committee which has screened the letters to select the deserving beneficiaries.
About 27 students have benefited from the disbursement as the first cohort of beneficiaries as part of the scholarship package aimed at supporting brilliant but needy students within the Bulpela and Nalung Fong catchment areas.
The Disbursement made to the 27 beneficiaries is at a total cost of 45,200 Ghana Cedis.
The Abukari Tia Education Fund is an Educational Fund founded and named after the Chief of Bulpela by the Member of Parliament for Tamale South, Haruna Iddrisu in honor of the chief after 42 years of stay on the skin of Bilpela since the chief’s enskinment onto the throne for over 4 decades ago.
The MP who recently got appointed as Minister for the Education Sector donated 100,000 Ghana Cedis to the fund as seed capital aimed at helping vulnerable students within Bilpela and Nalung enclave who struggle to pay their fees for tertiary education.
Among other things, the Bilpela Naa Abukari Tia Education Fund aims to groom and produce responsible youth across all professions ranging from Academia, Nursing, Engineering, Legal Profession, and piloting among others.
Present to witness the gesture to the beneficiaries were the Chief of Bilpela, Naa, Abukari Tia, Chief of Nalung, and Assembly Members for both Nalung Fong and Bilpela electoral areas. Also in attendance were the Executive Committee and Selection Committee Members of the Abukari Tia Education Fund.
The monies were disbursed to the beneficiaries on Thursday, 13th February 2025 at the forecourt of the Bilpela Naa Palace.
