The Northern Regional Football Association launched the 2024/2025 Girls U-15 League at the Kulikuli School Astro Turf on Wednesday, April 9th 2025 .
Before the official launch, an exhibition match was played, with the Red Side winning 5-1.
Ten U-15 girls’ clubs are participating in the league, an increase from eight clubs in the previous edition.
The clubs include Dakpema Ladies, Rising Sporting Club, North Engels, Din-nani Ladies,Tamale Suhuyini Ladies, Golden Maidens, Tamale Vision ladies, Dalun Simli Ladies , Talented Ladies and Tamale Future Ladies
A giant trophy was presented to be awarded to the winning team at the end of the competition.
Mr. Baba Nuhu Mallam, Committee Chairman, thanked the clubs for their massive turnout and emphasized adherence to competition rules.
Hajia Zeliya Iddi, Chairperson of the Northern Regional Football Association, praised the participants and expressed excitement for the league, she also hinted that Northern region will soon Kick start the Girls U-13 league at the school levels.
The Northern Regional Football Association Chairman, Alhaji, Abu Hassan Rhyzo, in his address to the participants, eged the clubs to take the competition serious “the league is a step in the right direction, with more clubs participating this season. “This is the second in a series, last year we piloted with the maiden edition, which was the first of its kind in Ghana. Since then, there has been improvement.
“Instead of the 8 that participated in the maiden edition, we have 10 this season. This means girls’ football is Flourishing in the region, and a lot of people are beginning to develop interest in it.”
The 2024/2025 season is set to kick off on Sunday, April 13, 2025, with top-performing clubs eligible for promotion to the NRFA Women’s Division 1B.
A trophy and cash prizes will be awarded to deserving winners. The league aims to groom the next generation of female footballers for the country and the world at large, creating opportunities for girls in the sports fraternity
