The vetting Committee of NDC has concluded vetting the Aspirants contesting the Tamale Central NDC Primaries, vying to fill the void after the sudden demise of the late MP of the Constituency, Dr. Ibrahim Murtala Mohammed in a helicopter crash.
All the 12 Aspirants who returned their nomination forms for submission on Monday August 28, took their turn to go through the vetting process smoothly.
Leading the NDC’s vetting Committee to vet the Aspirants was the Deputy General Secretary in charge of Operations, Barbara
Asamoah. Other Members on the vetting panel were, Northern Regional Minister, Ali Adolf Mburidiba, Northern Regional Secretary, Mohammed Abdul Salam Gulbia, and legal representative on the panel, Lawyer Terror.
The vetting process which lasted in less than 2 hours took place at the Regional Coordinating Council in Tamale on Sunday, 31st August, 2025.
Balloting was conducted for the Aspirants immediately after the vetting process to determine their positions on the ballot. At the end of the process, Professor Alidu Seidu Mahama picked the number 1 spot, followed by Mariama Naana Salifu on the second spot on the ballot.
Other Frontrunners such as Dr. Seidu Fiter Mohammed, Hon.Abdul Hannan Gundado, will be number 6 and 12 on the ballot respectively.
Barring any last minute changes, this will be positions of aspirants on ballot on 6th September, 2025, in the elections after a smooth and peaceful balloting process .

Addressing the Media, the Deputy General Secretary of the NDC, Barbra Asamoah who led the vetting process on behalf of the National Executives touted the process as fair and smooth, recognizing the credentials and contributions of aspirants towards the success of the party, stating further that all the Aspirants are qualified to contest for the elections as none of them will be disqualified from the contest owing to their unblemished record during the process so far.
