NLA Director-General  Commends Okyeame Kwame’s GH₵4 Million Pediatric Unit Project for Manhyia Hospital‎

‎The Director-General of the National Lottery Authority (NLA), Mohammed Abdul- Salam, has lauded celebrated Ghanaian musician and philanthropist Okyeame Kwame for his commitment to improving healthcare delivery through a major charitable project in Kumasi.



‎Mr. Abdul-Salam disclosed that on Wednesday 17 June 2026, he welcomed the award-winning artiste during a courtesy call, where discussions centered on an upcoming philanthropic initiative aimed at supporting child healthcare in the Ashanti Region.



‎According to the NLA Director-General, Okyeame Kwame is spearheading a GH₵4 million project to construct and fully equip a pediatric unit at Manhyia Hospital as part of activities marking his 50th birthday celebrations.



‎The project is expected to enhance healthcare services for children and improve access to quality medical care for families who rely on the facility.

‎Commending the musician’s vision and generosity, Mr. Abdul- Salam described the initiative as a worthy cause that demonstrates the importance of using influence and resources to create a lasting impact in society.



‎“As part of his 50th birthday celebrations, he is leading a GH₵4 million project to build and equip a pediatric unit at Manhyia Hospital in Kumasi. I commend his commitment to making a lasting impact and wish him success in this worthy cause,” he stated.

‎Okyeame Kwame, widely recognized not only for his contributions to Ghana’s music industry but also for his advocacy and social interventions, has over the years championed several campaigns focused on health, education, and community development.



‎The planned pediatric unit is expected to stand as one of the most significant legacy projects associated with his milestone birthday, reflecting his dedication to giving back to society and supporting the well-being of children.

Education Minister Haruna Iddrisu Announces Expanded Digital Learning Programme to Bridge Educational Gaps‎




‎The Minister for Education, Haruna Iddrisu, has outlined a series of digital learning interventions designed to expand access to quality education for students in underserved communities across Ghana.

‎Speaking on the floor of Parliament on Thursday 18 June 2026 in response to questions from Members of Parliament, the Minister revealed that the Ministry of Education, through the Centre for National Distance Learning and Open Schooling (CENDLOS), is intensifying efforts to provide equitable learning opportunities through innovative digital platforms and educational technologies.

‎According to Hon. Iddrisu, one of the flagship initiatives is the iBox digital learning platform, which is currently benefiting more than 120,000 students across 240 Senior High Schools nationwide. The platform provides students and teachers with access to educational content and learning resources aimed at improving academic performance and enhancing digital literacy.

‎The Minister explained that the Ministry is also deploying interactive educational technology tools and offline learning solutions to support schools in remote and disadvantaged areas where internet connectivity remains limited. These interventions are expected to ensure that students in such communities are not left behind in the country’s ongoing digital transformation agenda.

‎He noted that additional programmes are being introduced to strengthen teaching and learning outcomes, equip learners with essential digital skills, and provide targeted support for students preparing for national examinations.

‎Hon. Iddrisu emphasized that the digital learning interventions form part of the government’s broader commitment to bridging the digital divide and creating equal educational opportunities for all learners, regardless of their geographical location or socio-economic background.

‎“The objective is to ensure that every Ghanaian child has access to quality educational resources and the tools needed to succeed in the digital age,” he stated.

‎The Ministry believes that expanding access to technology-enabled learning will contribute significantly to improving educational outcomes, promoting inclusivity, and preparing students for the demands of a rapidly evolving global economy.

‎The latest interventions are expected to complement ongoing efforts by the government to modernize the education sector and leverage technology to enhance teaching, learning, and skills development across the country.

Dr. Bawumia Unveils New Political Team Ahead of 2028 Elections

The Flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, has announced a series of key political appointments to oversee his political activities and office as the party begins preparations for the 2028 general elections.

The appointments bring together experienced politicians, policy experts, legal minds, communication strategists, and youth mobilizers, reflecting what political observers describe as a deliberate effort to build a strong and effective political machinery for the years ahead.

Heading the team is former Majority Leader and veteran parliamentarian, Osei Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu, who has been appointed Chief of Staff. His role will involve coordinating the operations of Dr. Bawumia’s office and providing strategic leadership to the newly constituted team.

Former Suhum Member of Parliament, Frederick Opare-Ansah, has been tasked with overseeing identifiable activities, while former NPP National Chairman, Peter Mac Manu, assumes the position of Director of Political Strategies. The appointment places him at the centre of the party’s long-term political planning and electoral strategy.

Former Board Chairman of the Ghana Airports Company Limited, Fred Oware, has been named Political Advisor, bringing years of experience in governance and party administration to the role.

In the area of communications, seasoned communicator and former Managing Director of the State Transport Corporation (STC), Nana Akomea, has been appointed Communication Advisor. He will be supported by Dennis Miracles Aboagye, who takes up the position of Director of Communications, and Krobea Kwabena Asante, who has been named Director of New Media and Aide.

Former Minister for Information and Member of Parliament for Ofoase-Ayirebi, Kojo Oppong Nkrumah, has been appointed to coordinate policy matters as Head of Policy Coordination. His role is expected to focus on shaping and articulating Dr. Bawumia’s policy agenda.

Former Deputy Minister for Roads and Highways and former NPP National Youth Organizer, Anthony Abayifaa Karbo, has been assigned responsibility for Organization and Youth Inclusion, underscoring the importance of youth engagement in the party’s future strategy.

On economic affairs, Dr. Gideon Boako, Member of Parliament for Tano North and former spokesperson for Dr. Bawumia on economic matters, has been appointed Economic Advisor and Economic Spokesperson.

The communications and public engagement team is further strengthened with the appointment of Akbar Yussif Rohullah Khomeini as Spokesperson and Aide, while Dr. Ekua Amoakoh has been named Deputy Spokesperson.

The Flagbearer has also appointed Akosua Manu as Gender Advisor, a role expected to focus on women’s participation and gender-related policy engagement within the party. Lawyer and former parliamentary candidate, Hon. Amma Frimpong, will serve as Legal Advisor.

The appointments are widely seen as an indication of Dr. Bawumia’s commitment to maintaining an active political presence while positioning the NPP for the next electoral cycle. ‎Leading the team is former Majority Leader and veteran legislator, Hon. Osei-Kyei Mensah-Bonsu, who has been appointed Chief of Staff. His extensive experience in governance and parliamentary affairs is expected to provide strategic leadership and coordination within the office.

‎Former Member of Parliament for Suhum, Frederick Opare-Ansah, has been tasked with overseeing identifiable activities, while former National Chairman of the NPP, Peter Mac Manu, assumes responsibility as Director in Charge of Political Strategy.
