NDC Tamale Central Chairman F.K. Kanawu Supports Grassroots Mobilisation with Motorbike Donation

NDC Tamale Central Constituency Chairman and re-election aspirant, Farouk F.K. Kanawu, has donated a brand-new motorbike to Mr. Olu of Changli to support grassroots party organisation and mobilisation.
The donation forms part of efforts by Chairman Kanawu to provide logistical support for party activities in Changli and surrounding branches within the Tamale Central Constituency.
The motorbike is expected to facilitate movement and coordination for grassroots activities, including mobilisation, communication and engagement with party members across the area.
Presenting the motorbike, Chairman Kanawu said the support was intended to strengthen the party’s grassroots structures and enhance the effectiveness of local organisers.
Mr. Olu, who received the motorbike, expressed appreciation to Chairman Kanawu for the gesture and pledged to use it for its intended purpose.
The donation comes as Chairman Kanawu seeks another term as NDC Tamale Central Constituency Chairman, with his campaign emphasising grassroots organisation, logistical support and unity within the constituency.
Supporters of the chairman have cited the donation as part of what they describe as his commitment to resourcing the party at the grassroots level.
His campaign team continues to rally supporters under the slogan “Team F.K. – The Solid Team for Victory,” alongside the message “Eyɛ Zu, Eyɛ Za – Retain & Maintain.”

TAMALE, NORTHERN REGION — Northern Ladies Football Club has received a major financial boost after businessman and philanthropist Alhaji Hussein Yushaw, popularly known as Alhaji Fuzak, presented a GH¢21,000 cheque to the club.
The donation follows an appeal for financial assistance from Northern Ladies as the club works to meet some of its operational and financial obligations.
The intervention is expected to support the club’s activities and provide some relief as the team continues its efforts to promote women’s football and create opportunities for female footballers in the Northern Region.
Presenting the cheque, Alhaji Fuzak reaffirmed his support for initiatives aimed at contributing to the development of sports and young talents in the region.
The financial support is expected to help Northern Ladies meet some of its immediate needs, including expenses associated with the club’s football activities.
Management of Northern Ladies led by Chairman Obiri, expressed appreciation to the philanthropist for responding positively to the club’s appeal, describing the gesture as an important contribution to the team’s continued development.
The club said the funds would be used judiciously to support its activities and strengthen its operations.
The donation further highlights the role of private-sector and individual support in sustaining women’s football, particularly at the grassroots and club level.

Dasuma Radio Announces Dates For 8th Clan Soccer Tournament

Dasuma Radio 99.1Mhz has announced that the 8th edition of its annual Clan Soccer Tournament will be held from December 20 to 27, 2026, in Yendi, with eight historic clans set to compete for honours.
The tournament, which has become a major sporting event on the Dagbon calendar, will be held under the theme: “8 Clans, One People, One Dagbon: Celebrating Unity Through Football.”
According to the organising committee, the competition is aimed at using football as a platform to promote peace, unity and brotherhood among the people of Dagbon.
Eight clans to compete
The participating clans are Goonji’nima, Laabangsi, Nakohi’nima, Macheli’nima, Lungsi, Mohi, Sapashin’nima and Wanzama.
The tournament was instituted in 2019 by the Chief Executive Officer of Dasuma Radio, Alhaji Baba Daney, following the resolution of the Dagbon Chieftaincy conflict.
Since its inception, the competition has grown into a major community sporting festival and a key attraction during the December festivities in Dagbon.
The opening ceremony is scheduled for December 20 at the Yendi Youth Resource Centre, with the tournament’s matches taking place at the Yendi Astroturf from December 21 to 26.
The competition will officially come to an end on December 27, with the closing ceremony also scheduled to take place at the Yendi Youth Resource Centre.
The organising committee said the official fixtures, competition rules and sponsorship packages would be announced in due course.
Football enthusiasts who are unable to attend the matches in person will be able to follow the action through live commentary on Dasuma Radio 99.1MHz, popularly known as the “Voice of Sankarayili.”
Chairman of the Organising Committee, Alhaji Abdul-Halim Rubai, has called on clan heads, supporters, sponsors, media organisations and the general public to support the tournament.
He said the support of stakeholders would be crucial to making the 8th edition a success while strengthening the tournament’s role as a platform for unity and peaceful coexistence in Dagbon

Steadfast FC Held by Wa Power FC in Season Opener

Steadfast FC opened their UMB Division One League Zone 1A campaign with a 1–1 draw against Wa Power FC in an entertaining Match Day 1 encounter at the Aliu Mahama Sports Stadium in Tamale.
The opening fixture of the season produced the first goal of the campaign, with Steadfast FC taking an early lead through Yakeen Nurudeen, who calmly converted from the penalty spot in the third minute.
Wa Power FC, however, remained composed and went into the break trailing by a single goal.
The visitors returned from the interval with renewed purpose and were rewarded in the 60th minute, when Songbaare Cidoth converted another penalty to bring Wa Power FC level.
With both sides unable to find a winner, the contest ended 1–1, with all two goals coming from the penalty spot.
The result means Steadfast FC surrendered two points on home soil, while Wa Power FC secured a valuable away point to take back to Wa.
The opening-day encounter also saw goals scored in both halves, setting the tone for what promises to be a competitive Zone 1A campaign.
