Legal Practitioner and former MP for Tamale Central, Lawyer Inusah Fuseini has apologized to the King of Mamprugu, Abdulai Mahama Bohigu Mahami Sheriga following his opinion shared on the Bawku conflict supposedly aligning with the narrative of Kusasis, as the rightful custodians of Bawku in modern-day Ghana against the olden day ruling power wielded by Mamprusi in Bawku.
Appearing on News File on Saturday 19th April 2025, Joynews’ weekend political flagship program, the Former Lawmaker as part of his opening remarks upon the permission of the host, seized the opportunity not to only apologize to the Overlord of Mamprungu but also to his subjects, the youth and the entire people of Mamprungu.
The Former Minister of State noted that he made the comments out of no malice, neither intended to destabilize justice and peace of Bawku, asking forgiveness from the people of Mamprugu.
“Upon deep reflection, I said no, I think that what I said did not sit well with Mamprusis. It is not meant to destabilize the status quo out there. It was not meant to side with any group. It was simply pursuing my view of what we could do to bring justice and peace to Bawku. Upon open deep reflection, I think I owe the Mamprusi Youth an apology, I also owed the Nayiri an apology and his Council of Chiefs”.
“I’m using your platform to render an unqualified apology to the youth of Mamprugu, the Nayiri, and his Council of Elders. That was never my intention. In fact, I bear close affinity to the Mamprusis. So I’m surprised my statement has simply transported me from someone who bears close affinity to Mamprusi to a Kusasi. I have become a better person. I have now been able to put the conflict in a proper perspective. So Once again, this is learned, just then to say, opinion of forgiveness”.
