The NPP in the Savannah Region has descended heavily on President John Dramani Mahama, chiding him for what they describe as his ‘ambivalent statements’ on projects initiated by the erstwhile administration.
According to the NPP, President John Mahama has only chosen to deceive the chiefs and good people of the Savannah Region during his ‘Thank You’ tour to the area after making statements relating to projects started by the NPP government as though he is coming to execute new projects for the people.
In a press statement signed by the Savannah Regional Secretary of the NPP, Mohamed Issah suggested that President Mahama should only ensure completion of the started projects to benefit the people and not skew physical projects such as roads, bridges, and other infrastructure projects properly started in the previous administration to his administration’s credit.
“As a leader, truth, honesty, and inclusivity are key ingredients to succeed; the President has chosen once again to deceive the Chiefs and people by making ambivalent statements on major projects in the Region started by the erstwhile NPP Nana Addo/ Bawumia government. The simplest of tasks is to allow the due process to continue and then supervise the completion for the benefit of the people. Mr. President, you will not be allowed to skew or rewrite what’s public knowledge, especially with physical construction of bridges, roads, and other infrastructure projects in the Region”, the statements said.
Mr. Mohammed Issah mentioned that the Akufu-Addo Bawumia government secured funds, worth 88 million euros and 97 million euros, in addition to a counterpart funding raised by the Government of Ghana to kick-start bridge and road projects in the region. Among the projects included, Daboya, Yapei, and Buipe bridges, Daboya-Mankargu-Wiaga-Mempeasem roads, Bunjai-Yapei roads, Wa-Sawla-Bole-Wenchi asphalting roads, Salaga-Kpandai, Salaga-Bimbila, Tuna-Jang roads among other projects.
Meanwhile, the Savannah Regional Secretary touted the NPP’s achievement in the region following the construction of major functional departments such as the state-of-the-art Savannah Regional Co-ordinating Council Office complex, Regional Police Headquarters, Regional Health Administration, Regional Education Directorate, and a host of others.
Mr. Mohamed Issah said, “The New Patriotic Party honored the long-cherished dream of the forebears of the land by granting an administrative Region. Alongside, some far-reaching construction of major functional departments as the state-of-the-art Savannah Regional Co-ordinating Council Office complex, Regional Police Headquarters, Regional Health Administration, Regional Education Directorate, and a host of others must set the records straight to avoid any project stealing aimed at swaying public opinion to lies and propaganda”.
