The Team Manager of FC Tamale, Abdul Baaki Adam has resigned from his role as a member of Division Two Working Committee, citing ineffective leadership structure and the
unilateral decision-making without consultation, rendering his role and fellow members ineffective.
In a letter copied to the Division Two Working Committee Chairman, Mr. Abdul Baaki also mentioned the poor design of the 2024/25 Division Two Fixture which has negatively impacted the league as a key reason for his resignation.
Additionally, he indicated that the zoning of the clubs was done without consultation or input from the Division Two Working committee members, undermining the collective role they are entrusted to play in strengthening the competitiveness of the game.
Finally, Mr, Baaki intimated that his decision to quit will spark the necessary reforms in creating a more inclusive and effective leadership structure that prioritizes the growth of football in the region.
Below is the statement of his resignation letter
I refer you to your letter dated 20/04/2024 appointing me as a member of the Division Two Working Committee. I sincerely appreciate the recognition and the opportunity to contribute to the development of football in the region.
However, with deep regret, I am tendering my
immediate resignation from the committee due to ineffective leadership structure and the
unilateral decision-making that has rendered my role and that of my fellow members ineffectual.
It is evident that the poor design of the 2024/2025 Division Two season fixtures has negatively impacted the league. Efforts to address these concerns were disregarded, demonstrating a lack of inclusion and transparency in decision-making.
Additionally, the zoning of the clubs was done
without consultation or input of the Division Two Working committee members, further
undermining the collective role we were entrusted to play.
Football thrives on teamwork, collaboration, and fairness principles that I have always upheld and remain committed to. However, under the current structure, where key decisions are dictated by a singular approach rather than a consultative process.
I find it impossible to contribute meaningfully to the growth of the game. My resignation is not a withdrawal from my commitment to football development but rather a principled stance against a system that does not allow for constructive engagement or shared governance.
I hope my decision will spark the necessary reforms to create a more inclusive and effective leadership structure that prioritizes the growth of football in our region.
