JOHN JINAPOR EARNS PhD IN DEVELOPMENT FINANCE FROM SOUTH AFRICAN UNIVERSITY

The Minister of Energy and Green Transition and MP for Yapei Kusalgu, Hon. John Abdulai Jinapor, has graduated from Stellenbosch University with PhD honors after successful completion of his doctorate program.

The Ghanaian Legislator earned a PhD in Development Finance from the South African University following fruitful defence to his doctoral thesis focused on examining the intersection of energy, foreign direct investment (FDI), and environmental sustainability across the African continent.

The Minister was conferred with the honor on Wednesday 10th December 2025 during the graduation ceremony of the school, marking a significant academic milestone attained by Hon.Jinapor.

On 8 September 2025, John Jinapor successfully defended his PhD, supervised by Prof Joshua Abor and Prof Michael Graham. His dissertation explored inclusive growth and environmental quality in Sub- Saharan Africa.

Before his Doctorate Degree, Hon. John Jinapor has attained a solid academic background, holding multiple postgraduate degrees, including an MSc in Energy Economics, an MSc in Development Finance, an MBA in Marketing, and an MA in Economic Policy Management. This adds to his broad academic academic background.

Dagbani Movie Producer Basit Kulchiri busted by Taskforce for illicit drug trade

Dagbani Movie Producer and Director, Abdul Basit Kulchiri has been busted by Tamale Anti-drug taskforce in connection with illicit drug trade, a canker that has eroded moral fibre in the Dagbon society including increasing mental illness among the youth.

In a video circulating on social media, Basit Kulchiri is seen fumbling in response to questions about his role involving the sale of the hard substances, endangering the lives and future of the youth.

The movie producer also had his hairs being embarrassingly shaved in the video with members of the taskforce expressing disappointment with his involvement of the social canker in Dagbon.

Kulchiri is not new from controversy as his monologue on Dagbon Radio as then a presenter landed him into trouble after badmouthing in the mysterious killing of two children in Kakpagyili, accusing Mba Madaha of being a mastermind behind the death of the children.

A court in Tamale found him guilty in defamation suit filed by Afa Madaha, fining him to pay whooping sum as compensation for defaming the complainant who had his house burnt and some items stolen from it.

Information reaching Ghananewsnet.com indicate that upon his arrest by the anti-drug taskforce he was whisked to the Gukpe Naa Palace for possible sanctions.

ALHAJ FUZAK PLEDGES TO PROVIDE CRITICAL SOCIAL AMENITIES TO ANBARIYA

A Renowned Contractor cum Businessman, Alhaj Fuzak has expressed his commitment to provide critical amenities to Anbariya Islamic Institute aimed at providing social services to the school.

Addressing the gathering at the 4th Annual Qur’an graduation ceremony of the basic school in Sakasaka, Tamale, Alhaj Fuzak pledged to establish 2 mechanized borehole facilities with standard washrooms for the school.

The businessman also promised to construct ultra-modern ICT center at Anbariya, equipping it with sophisticated computers to enhance learning of digital skills among the students.

Among other things, he also disclosed triggering a procurement process to secure 50-seater Yutong bus for the institution in addition to a 15-mini bus for the Leadership of Anbariya as part of efforts to enhance the operations of the Da’wah Committee in propagating Islam and other Islamic related activities.

Explaining the intent of his support, the Philanthropist underscored the role Anbariya Islamic Institute plays in Islamic education in the Northern Region, describing the institution as a light, training and producing thousands of graduates into system.

Dagbon Malzali Naa unveils scholarship fund: Supports Dagbani Language graduates with cash donation

Dagbon Malzali Naa, Prof Habib Chester Iddrisu with support from his wife, Napaɣa Jessica, has rewarded 11 Ghanaian language graduates from Dagbon with cash donations in recognition of their efforts after successful completion of 4-year degree studies in Dagbani Language at the University of Winneba, Ajumako Campus in the Central Region.

Dagbon Malzali Naa’s gesture forms part of broader efforts in encouraging the learning of mother tongue especially Dagbani Language among students at every stage of education, promoting the Dagbon culture to the rest of the world through the Dagbani language.

Unveiling the Annual Scholarship and Excellence Awards at his residence in Tamale, on Saturday 13th December 2025, the committee of Malzali Naa scholarship scheme presented 1,000 Ghana Cedis each to the beneficiaries as motivation for their thoughtfulness to read Dagbani Language as course studies at first Degree.

The scholarship package by Dagbon Malzali Naa aims to support students acquire knowledge in the Dagbani Language, removing the financial financial barrier hindering a lot of students from pursuing their dream for a greater replica effect in the Dagbon society vis-a-vis imparting the knowledge to the younger generation.

As announced by the scholarship committee, two students will benefit from the scholarship opportunity every year, hitting effect this year, covering school fees and upkeep of the selected beneficiaries for the 4-year period.

The ceremony was graced by a lot of dignitaries especially chiefs from the traditional authority of Yendi and Tamale. The awards presentation was supervised by ZALINKO LANA ABUKARI AMADU on behalf of the Overlord of Dagbon, Ya-Na Dr. Abukari II who gave his blessings for the scholarship project.

Also present were Dagbani Teachers from Tertiary Institutions, Students, School Mates of Dagbon Malzali Naa, Opinion Leaders, among other people.

Speakers at the event urged students in Dagbon to harbor the spirit of learning the mother tongue, highlighting the opportunities that exist in the job environment beyond just the classroom.They also emphasized the need to learn the Dagbani Language and use it as medium of teaching at the basic level of education especially in the Northern Region.

Dagbon Malzali Naa’s Scholarship Fund aims to create educational opportunities for students in Dagbon especially the vulnerable ones by funding their education so as to stimulate the interest of students to pursue studies in the Dagbani Language for its preservation against extinction for the benefit of the unborn generation, and promotion of the Dagbon Culture.
