The DCE of Nanton, Rosina Zeinabu Abdul Rahamani, expressed her disappointment in the previous government for abandoning numerous projects in the district. She called on contractors who used to be in charge of these projects to return to the sites to ensure full project execution.
According to the DCE, she is committed to ensuring that every stalled project in the district is completed to improve the livelihoods of the people including the staff of Nanton District.
Her remarks follow a thorough inspection of some of the abandoned projects in the Nanton District initiated by the erstwhile administration.
Over the weekend, Hon. Rosina Zeinabu embarked on a tour in the district to acquaint herself with some projects undertaken and has been abandoned by the previous government. The inspection tour also aimed at finding out first-hand information about the projects and possibly providing solutions for completion.
In the company of the Officials of the District Assembly, the DCE visited stalled projects which included the Agenda 111 projects, the District Assembly Office project, the 6-unit Classrooms block at Ziang, and the Offices of the District Education Directorate among others.
Addressing journalists during the tour,
the Nanton DCE bewailed the standstill of the Agenda 111 project in the district, emphasizing the negative impact on the people as they still access healthcare in Tamale when it comes to referral cases due to non-completion of the project. However, DCE vowed to ensure the completion of the projects to improve the health of the people as the wealth of the people is their health.
She also stressed the struggle the staff of the assembly go through on a daily basis following the lack of spaces in the assembly to occupy for administrative work after the district assembly office project stalled upon its initiation by the previous administration.
Meanwhile, she also expressed readiness to champion autonomous office to agencies such as NADMO, and NHIS among other key offices as they still serve under the shadow of Savulugu Municipality, a district Nanton separated from about 8 years ago.
