The re-organization Committee of NPP in the Karaga Constituency has charged members of the party to stand up against NDC apologists in the area following continued intimidation and attacks visited on NPP supporters in the area.
According to the NPP group, Members must defend themselves at all times and should not cow into submission through intimidation, verbal attacks, and brutality of the NDC members.
At a press conference in Karaga on Saturday, 31st May 2025, the group noted that NPP should have a considerable voice in the constituency considering the number of unprecedented projects executed by the MP of the area, ranging from Education, Health, Road infrastructure, Access to water, and Sports infrastructure, among others, aimed at impacting the lives of the people.
They outline development projects such as Pishigu SHS, Nyong Technical and Vocational School, Nanbrugu College of Education, Agenda 112, Hundred Percent Coverage of Electricity, Mechanized Water Facilities, and a students’ support scheme.
At the back of these development projects embarked upon by the current MP and the NPP’s erstwhile administration, the group claims its followers should have the loudest mouths in the constituency rather not to succumb to the whims and caprices of the NDC.
The Re-Organization Committee members also questioned how every bad happening occurring in the Constituency will be attributed to the doings of the MP.
“why must we allow ourselves to be brutalized, intimidated, beaten, and verbally assaulted by our opponents, making it worse is to ascribe every miscarriage of pregnancy to our member of parliament, if police are in town in search of criminals they say is our member of parliament, if military personnel are in town in search of criminals they say is our member of parliament and how long shall we allow these things to continue. We think a time has come for us all to get united, leave no stone unturned, and fight back at every person whose desire is to denigrate the image of our party and the Member of Parliament”.
Meanwhile, the Committee also distances NPP from Chieftaincy politics in the area, labeling the NDC as chieftaincy contractors who proclaimed to remove Ya-Na’s installed Paramount Chief for Karaga traditional area during the 2024 electioneering campaign with their preferred candidate, asserting further that five months into NDC Government they are awaiting fulfillment of this campaign promise.
“Let no one mistakenly take our member of parliament to be a chieftaincy contractor who procures chieftaincy titles for candidates for a fee. We in the NPP are not blocked people, we will hold our opponents tight to their grandiose and unachievable promises made during the campaign, chiefly among them was to sidestep article 270 clauses (1) and clause (2), paragraphs a and b and clause (3), paragraph a and b which will enable them to chase away a Yaa Naa installed chief and with the political power, installed a politically preferred chief of their choice.
“Five clear months into their administration, we in the NPP have not forgotten that promise, we will be happier and of gladded if they can pay some attention to it, and failure to fulfill this will amount to defending ourselves and the party”.
