Experienced Ghanaian defender Baba Rahman has earned a sensational return to the Black Stars squad after nearly three years away from the national team.

The left-back, who currently plays for PAOK FC, receives his first national team call-up since September 2023 following an outstanding campaign in Greece. Baba has been one of PAOK’s most reliable performers this season, making 35 appearances in all competitions while contributing three goals and several assists from defence.

His impressive form has reignited admiration among Ghanaian football fans, many of whom believe his experience and leadership could play a key role in the Black Stars’ rebuilding process.

Baba Rahman’s return also marks an emotional chapter in his international career. In 2023, the former Chelsea FC defender announced his decision to step away from the national team after facing criticism and boos from sections of supporters during an AFCON qualifier at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium.

The incident reportedly affected the defender deeply, leading him to temporarily walk away from international football despite years of dedicated service to Ghana.

However, recent comments from the player suggest he is now mentally prepared to represent the country once again. His comeback reflects resilience, maturity, and a renewed commitment to the Black Stars.

Since making his debut in 2014, Baba Rahman has earned 50 caps for Ghana, scoring once and providing eight assists. He has represented the nation at multiple Africa Cup of Nations tournaments and was also part of Ghana’s squad at the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.

With the Black Stars transitioning into a new era, Baba’s return is expected to add valuable experience, defensive stability, and leadership to the squad ahead of upcoming assignments.
