The Regent of Bamvum, Alhassan Mahama, has urged Dagombas in the diaspora to support reconstruction of the new Gbewaa Palace by donating to the Dagbon Development Fund Committee.
The Regent noted that donation to the Dagbon Redevelopment plan is a worthy cause, entreating all and sundry in Dagbon to support the reconstruction process.
Naa Alhassan Mahama made this Clarion call when he led the people of Bamvum Traditional area to donate 36,000 Ghana Cedis to Members of the Dagbon Development Fund at the Bamvum Palace.
The Bamvum Traditional Area previously donated 155, 455 Ghana Cedis in tranches to support the reconstruction of the Gbewaa Palace. The latest donation takes the total donations of the people of Bamvum Traditional Area so far to a tally of 191,455 Ghana Cedis.
Receiving the donation on behalf of DDF Secretariat, Sakoya Naa Sintaro Mahama, thanked the Regent of Bamvum and the people for their commitment to the cause, reechoing the statement that people of Dagbon based in the Southern Sector and the diaspora especially those in UK, Canada, Australia and Germany, among others should endeavor to contribute to ensuring completion of the project.
Speaking to the media after the donation, the Regent of Bamvum entreats everyone in Dagbon and those domicile abroad especially his compatriots in Germany to donate towards the cause.
He emphasized the significance of the project, signalling symbol of unity, cultural heritage and serves as sacred Palace of reverence for the people of Dagbon.
For this reason, he rallies support across Dagbon and beyond to facilitate the work in progress at the Gbewaa Palace.
