The 2028 presidential flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, has expressed heartfelt sympathy to thousands of Ghanaians affected by the recent floods that have displaced families, destroyed properties, and claimed lives in parts of the country.
In a message shared on his official Facebook page on Monday morning, Dr. Bawumia said his thoughts and prayers were with all those impacted by the devastating floods, particularly families who have lost loved ones and those forced to abandon their homes due to the disaster.
“My thoughts and prayers are with the thousands of our people affected by the floods. My deepest sympathies to those who have lost their loved ones, properties, and those who have been forced out of their homes,” he wrote.
Dr. Bawumia urged citizens in affected communities to strictly comply with all directives issued by the Government and to cooperate fully with institutions responsible for managing the emergency situation. According to him, adherence to official safety measures is crucial in protecting lives and ensuring an effective response.
He also called on the emergency services and all relevant state agencies to intensify their efforts to reach vulnerable communities and provide timely assistance to those in need.
“I urge the emergency services and all relevant authorities to do everything possible to reach those in need and assist them,” he stated.
Emphasizing the importance of national solidarity during difficult times, Dr. Bawumia encouraged Ghanaians to support one another as the country works to recover from the disaster.
“We will get through this difficult time by caring for one another,” he added.
He concluded his message with a prayer for the nation, saying, “May God bless our homeland Ghana.”
The flooding has affected several communities across the country, prompting calls for coordinated relief efforts and renewed attention to flood prevention and disaster preparedness.
