Education Minister Haruna Iddrisu has described the late Yaa Naa Abubakari Mahama II as “a great unifier,”

Education Minister and Member of Parliament for Tamale South, Haruna Iddrisu, has paid a heartfelt tribute to the late Yaa Naa Abubakari Mahama II, describing his passing as the loss of “more than a King” but “a great unifier.”

In a solemn message following the announcement of the revered monarch’s death, the Minister praised the late Yaa Naa for his unwavering commitment to peace, reconciliation, and unity within the Kingdom of Dagbon.

“Today, Dagbon has lost more than a King; we have lost a great unifier,” Mr. Iddrisu wrote.

Reflecting on the rich history of the ancient Kingdom of Dagbon, he noted that Yaa Naa Abubakari Mahama II stood on the enduring legacy of Dagbon’s founding fathers, including Naa Gbewaa and Naa Nyagsi, who established and strengthened the kingdom’s political structure.

The Minister said the late monarch built bridges among his people, inspired reconciliation after years of division, and left behind a lasting legacy of peace that should be preserved by future generations.

According to him, the greatest honour Dagbon can pay the late King is to safeguard the unity he restored by faithfully maintaining the kingdom’s cherished rotational succession tradition.

“May an Abudu succeed an Andani, and an Andani succeed an Abudu, so that Dagbon remains united, peaceful, and strong,” he stated.

Mr. Iddrisu described the late Yaa Naa as “a colossus of unity” whose leadership will be remembered for generations.

He concluded his tribute with prayers for Allah to grant the late monarch Al-Jannah Firdaus and to continue blessing the Kingdom of Dagbon with enduring peace.
