FA Cup replays will be scrapped from the first round onwards in the 2024-25 competition.

All rounds of the Emirates FA Cup will also be played on weekends, including the fifth round which has been played in midweek for the last five seasons.

The changes come as part of a new six-year agreement between the Football Association (FA) and the Premier League.

Both say that it will “strengthen” the FA Cup format.

In its current format, the FA Cup has no replays from the fifth round onwards, but the FA says the move to eliminate them from an earlier stage has been made “in light of changes to the calendar driven by the expanded UEFA competitions”.

The first round of the FA Cup sees professional teams from League One and League Two enter, with Championship and Premier League teams joining from the third round.

Other changes will see the fourth and fifth rounds, and the quarter-finals, played without clashing with any Premier League fixtures for the first time.

The fourth round will be played in an extended window from Friday to Wednesday.

Tolon seat: Intimidation alone contributes 70% for the victory of NPP – Alhaj Fuzak

Published Inusah Dondaliya

Date: 30th April 2026

An Entrepreneur cum Renowned Contractor, Alhaj Fuzak, has assured that NDC will snatch the Tolon seat from the NPP come the 2028 general elections through his own influence.

According to the Contractor, NPP does not deserve to hold on to the seat under the stewardship of the current MP, Hon.Alhaj Iddrisu Habib given the massive following of NDC in the Tolon Constituency, promising to push resources into the constituency to ensure that NDC wins back the seat after missing out in the two previous Parliamentary elections.

Speaking on DM TV in an interview, Alhaj Fuzak attributed the loss of the seat in the 2024 elections to the shooting incident that occurred on the voting day, claiming that the majority of NDC sympathizers refused to show up to vote due to fear and panic after the shooting incident which claimed a life in Nyankpala.

He also cited a difficulty they encountered in Chirifoyili, an NPP-dominated community as another factor militating against the party’s victory.

During the interview, Alhaj Fuzak noted that under no circumstance should NDC lose the Tolon seat to the NPP considering the numbers the party had in the Constituency, alleging that intimidation has always been the winning tool of the NPP due to the collation center being situated in Tolon – a stronghold for the Incumbent MP.

He said that intimidation alone during the election and collation process contributes to 70 percent of their opponents’ victory.

Speaking in Dagbani, Alhaj Fuzak said, looking at the demographics of Tolon, “NPP doesn’t have the numbers to always win the seat. They have few areas as their strongholds. These include Tolon, Chirifoyili, Yoɣu, Jagidooyili, and a few other communities. But take communities like Nyankpala, Ligbun, and Kasuliyili which are predominantly NDC strongholds, outweigh the voting populace in the NPP’s strongholds”.
