Ghana international defender Gideon Mensah has officially joined German Bundesliga side 1. FC Köln on a two-year contract following the expiration of his spell with AJ Auxerre.
The experienced left-back makes the move to Germany after four seasons with Auxerre, where he established himself as a key figure and earned admiration for his consistency, defensive discipline, and attacking contributions from the flank.
Mensah’s switch to FC Köln marks the beginning of a new chapter in the Bundesliga, where he will be aiming to bring his experience and quality to the club’s backline. The 27-year-old is expected to strengthen Köln’s defensive options ahead of the new season.
A regular member of Ghana’s Black Stars, Mensah has represented the country at major international tournaments and remains one of Ghana’s most reliable defenders. His move to one of Germany’s historic clubs is seen as another significant step in his European career.
The transfer also means Mensah becomes one of the latest Ghanaian players to feature in the Bundesliga, where he will be looking to make an immediate impact.
