Tamale Metropolitan assembly has marked Ghana’s 68th independence Day celebration, holding a simple forum in Tamale at the Jubilee Park on Thursday 6th March 2025.
The theme for this year’s celebration is ‘reflect, review and reset the country’ under the current circumstances.
Gracing the Independence Day commemoration were dignitaries including the Northern Regional Minister, Ali Adolf Mburidiba, Northern Regional Council of State Representative, Alhaj Lawyer Mohammed Mumuni, PM for Tamale Metro, Tamale Metro Education Directorate, Education Officers, Teachers and Students from selected schools.
Schools that participated in the Independence Day forum include Zosimli Girls Basic School, Nyohini Presby JHS, Sakasaka Primary School, Nuriya SHS, and Tamale Girls SHS among others.
The Independence Day celebration was characterized by speeches, poetry Recitals, drama, and pick and respond by the students from the selected schools.
Some of the students also displayed a rich cultural heritage through the cultural dance.
This year’s celebration is in sharp contrast to the previous ones where students, security agencies, and Cardet Corp paraded at Jubilee Park to march around in commemoration of Independence Day.
Addressing the gathering the Northern regional Minister, Ali Adolf John Mburidiba highlighted the strides Ghana has made in so many areas since gaining independence, but still requires more work to do in the areas of health, education, Job opportunities, Youth Empowerment to be able to have a better country.
