Ghana defender Gideon Mensah has signed a one-year contract extension with Auxerre, keeping him at the club until 2026, according to Flashscore.
The 26-year-old left-back initially joined Auxerre in 2022 from Bordeaux on a three-year deal, and with his contract set to expire in 2025, he has committed to an additional year.
Since his arrival at the Stade de l’Abbe-Deschamps, Mensah has proven his worth, making 55 appearances and playing a vital role in helping the club secure promotion back to Ligue 1 after a brief stint in Ligue 2.
His defensive solidity and ability to rise to the occasion under pressure have made him a key figure in Auxerre’s ambitions.
Mensah’s international pedigree, having represented Ghana at the FIFA World Cup and the Africa Cup of Nations, adds further value to Auxerre’s lineup as they navigate Ligue 1.
Despite a mixed start to the 2024/25 campaign with two wins and three losses, his recent return from a knee injury, marked by a 3-0 win over Brest, is expected to provide a significant boost.
Auxerre, looking to cement their place in the top flight after a decade of struggles, will rely heavily on Mensah’s experience as they push to secure their Ligue 1 status.
