State broadcaster GTV Sports+ has reportedly secured the exclusive rights to broadcast the Ghana Premier League for the next five seasons.
This agreement follows the conclusion of a previous contract with the Chinese pay television network StarTimes, which had held broadcasting rights since 2020.
StarTimes’ contract, which included the Ghana Premier League and the FA Cup, was not renewed after the 2023/24 football season.
According to reports by Oyerepa FM, GTV Sports+ will now take over as the sole broadcaster, having reached a deal with the Ghana Football Association (GFA).
The agreement is reportedly valued at USD2 million US Dollars, and it is expected to elevate the coverage of Ghanaian football with high-quality broadcasts, including live matches, highlights, and in-depth analysis.
This development is significant for the Ghana Premier League, as it ensures that local fans will have continued access to their favourite teams and matches on a national platform.
The 2024-25 season of the Ghana Premier League is set to begin on September 6, and with GTV Sports+ at the helm, football enthusiasts across the country can look forward to enhanced coverage and an improved viewing experience for the next five years.
