Herve Renard has been reappointed as the head coach of Saudi Arabia’s national team, marking his return to the helm after previously leading the team from 2019 to 2023 .
This surprise move comes after the departure of Italian coach Roberto Mancini, whose tenure was marked by setbacks, including a 2-0 home loss to Japan and a goalless draw with Bahrain .
Renard’s reappointment is seen as a strategic move to bolster Saudi Arabia’s chances in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers.
His familiarity with Saudi soccer and previous successes make him a natural fit for the position During his first stint, Renard led Saudi Arabia to a historic 2-1 victory over Argentina in the 2022 World Cup

The French man also Coached Morocco in the 2018 World Cup and Saudi Arabia in the 2022 World Cup .
Renard signed a two-year contract, extending through the 2025 season, with an option to remain until the 2027 Asian Cup . His return is expected to bring renewed hopes for Saudi Arabia’s national team.
