Karaga MP Dr. Mohammed Amin Anta Launches Tuma Lana Community Games 2026, Unveils Football Trial Opportunities for Outstanding Talents

Story by Saibu Terry The Member of Parliament for Karaga Constituency and former Minister of Finance, Dr. Mohammed Amin Anta, has officially launched the 2026 Tuma lana Community Games at the Pishigu Astro Turf, marking the beginning of what promises to be one of the largest grassroots football competitions in the constituency.
The colorful opening ceremony, held on Saturday, June 6, 2026, was organized in collaboration with the Karaga District Football Association and attracted traditional leaders, football enthusiasts, youth groups, and residents from across the constituency. The Tuma lana Community Games is designed to promote peace, unity, and social cohesion among communities while providing a platform for talented young footballers to showcase their skills and pursue opportunities in professional football.
A total of 16 zones have been drawn into four groups for the preliminary stage of the tournament, with the top two teams from each group progressing to the knockout phase. Participating teams include Karaga A, Karaga B, Pishigu A, Pishigu B, Shellilanyili Zone, Yemo Karaga Zone, Nagung Zone, Nyong Zone, Tamaligu/Bagurugu Zone, Sung Zone, Kupali/Monk Zone, Komkomba Zone, Zandua/Dim Zone, Kopliga/Kpasong Zone, Bagli/Gbanlua Zone, among others.
Demonstrating his commitment to youth empowerment and sports development, Dr. Anta donated football kits, match balls, and other logistical support to all participating teams. He also announced an attractive reward package aimed at motivating players throughout the competition. Under the initiative, the Most Valuable Player (MVP) in every match will receive a pair of football boots. Furthermore, teams that finish first, second, and third will be rewarded with trophies, medals, and substantial cash prizes.
Speaking during the launch, Dr. Anta revealed an exciting opportunity for outstanding performers, announcing that the tournament’s Best Goalkeeper, Best Player, and Top Scorer will each be given the chance to travel to either Dubai or Qatar for professional football trials. “Football is more than just a game; it is a thriving industry capable of transforming lives. From this Astro Turf, we can discover the next Baba Rahman and the next Abdul Fatawu Issahaku. My office will continue to support initiatives that create opportunities for our young people to excel and achieve their dreams,” Dr. Anta stated.
The six-week competition will be played across three major venues within the constituency — the Karaga Astro Turf, Kpasong Astro Turf, and Pishigu Astro Turf. Organizers expect the tournament to attract football scouts and talent hunters from various parts of the country and beyond, particularly during the grand finale. The opening fixture produced an exciting contest as Dr. Amin Adam painfully saw his home town Tamalgu/Bagurugu comprehensivly beaten 2:0 by Nyong Zone to become the first team to secure victory in the tournament. The result also saw Nyong Zone register the first goals of the competition.
Mohammed Abdallah of Nyong Zone emerged as the first Most Valuable Player (MVP) of the tournament after an impressive performance and was presented with a pair of football boots in recognition of his contribution.
With strong community participation, attractive incentives, and opportunities for international exposure, the Tumalana Community Games 2026 is expected to serve as a significant platform for nurturing football talent while strengthening unity and development across the Karaga Constituency
