The Tamale Dakpema, Naa Bawah Fuseini Binbarigu, in partnership with traditional authorities, has threatened to close down mosques next year if Imams delivering sermons continue to wage verbal attacks on one another in the Holy Month of Ramadan, flaring religious passions, causing uneasy calm and raising tension amongst the Muslim Ummah within the Northern Region.
This follows unheard-of name-calling, hate speech, and character assassination characterizing this year’s Ramadan sermon by Islamic Preachers across the sects in Tamale.
The chief made the strong statement as part of his New Year message while speaking to journalists after observing Eidul-Fitr at the Kaladan Part under the auspices of the Mahanliya Islamic community in Tamale.
The Tamale Dakpema noted with grave concern over the attitude of Islamic Clerics who took each other to cleanest during their sermons in the month of Ramadan over petty differences and superiority as who is more informed Sunnah of the religion.
Announcing measures to curb the unguarded sermons within the Islamic architecture, the Tamale Dakpema vowed to tame the preachers by closing down mosques where incidiary language is used to incite violence against sects and their faith.
