Nigerian Afrobeats artiste Mr P (Peter Okoye) has reassured fans in Tamale that the cancelled Maccasio x Mr P Live Concert 2026 will be rescheduled and held before the end of the year.

In a post shared on his official X (formerly Twitter) account shortly after organisers announced the cancellation, the singer described the setback as “a blessing in disguise” and expressed optimism about returning to perform for his fans.

“This disappointment is already a blessing in disguise. No matter what happened, this concert WILL happen before the year runs out. That’s a promise. Tamale, see you soon! Thanks for the love and support,” Mr P wrote.

The assurance comes after organisers of the highly anticipated concert announced that the event had been cancelled due to “circumstances beyond our control.”

In a statement accompanying the cancellation notice, the organisers expressed regret over the development and apologised to fans for the inconvenience.

“We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and appreciate your understanding and continued support,” the statement said.

The concert was expected to bring together Ghanaian rap star Maccasio and Mr P in what would have been one of the biggest entertainment events in Northern Ghana this year.

Although no new date has been announced, Mr P’s promise has renewed hope among fans that the concert will be staged before the close of 2026.

Dr. Seidu Fiter has expressed his unwavering support for Tamale base music star Maccasio following the postponement of the rapper’s highly anticipated concert due to the passing of the Overlord of Dagbon, Ya-Naa Abukari II.

In a heartfelt message shared on his Facebook page, Dr. Fiter acknowledged the enormous effort, passion, and dedication Maccasio invested in organising the event, describing the cancellation as a painful but unavoidable consequence of the period of mourning in Dagbon.

According to him, while the setback is undoubtedly difficult, it should not be viewed as a defeat but rather as a temporary delay that will ultimately lead to greater success.

“I know how much hard work, passion, and energy you poured into staging this show, and I can only imagine how incredibly difficult it was to see it cancelled due to the profound loss of the late Ya-Naa Abukari II,” he wrote.

Dr. Fiter noted that achieving greatness often requires overcoming unexpected challenges and disappointments, stressing that resilience in difficult moments is what shapes successful individuals.

He encouraged the award-winning rapper to remain focused and not allow the unfortunate circumstances to diminish his determination, expressing confidence that Maccasio would return stronger than ever.

The educationist also urged the musician to remain silent in the face of criticism and instead appreciate the traditional authorities whose decision led to the postponement of the concert.

“Thank the authorities that matter, close your ears to people who will tell you that you are hated by Dagbon. Because it’s the same Dagbon that has made you who you are today, so they can’t be your enemies. Bounce back stronger, my brother,” he stated.

Dr. Fiter concluded his message by reaffirming his admiration and support for Maccasio, saying he remains proud of the musician and believes greater opportunities lie ahead.

Maccasio’s concert, which was scheduled to take place in Tamale, was postponed following the announcement of the death of Ya-Naa Abukari II, as Dagbon entered a period of mourning in line with tradition. The postponement has attracted widespread reactions, with many fans and public figures expressing solidarity with the rapper while paying tribute to the late Dagbon overlord.

The Palace of Naa-Yab Kuga Naa, together with several royal palaces in Dagbon, has cautioned media commentators and social media users against making inaccurate or speculative statements about the history, culture, and traditions of the Dagbon Kingdom.

In a statement, the Palace acknowledged the interest shown by sons and daughters of Dagbon in educating the public about the kingdom’s rich heritage but stressed that any public discussion on such matters must be guided by truth, accuracy, and respect for established customs.

The Palace expressed concern over the increasing circulation of unverified information on television and social media, warning that such commentary has the potential to create confusion, fuel division, and undermine the dignity of Dagbon’s revered traditional institutions.

According to the statement, Dagbon customs are sacred and should not be treated as subjects of speculation or personal opinion. It further urged the public to exercise restraint, particularly during the ongoing period of mourning following the passing of the Overlord of Dagbon, Ndan Yaa-Naa Mahama Abubakari II.

Quoting a Dagbani proverb, “Ka yela zaa ka tipogu wumda,” meaning “It is not every conversation that the canoe should hear,” the Palace called on members of the public to be mindful of their words and the information they share.

The statement also warned that the Palaces would not hesitate to invoke appropriate traditional measures against individuals who deliberately cross established boundaries or bring Dagbon’s customs into disrepute.

The Palace appealed to all sons and daughters of Dagbon, both at home and abroad, to safeguard the kingdom’s cultural heritage and uphold the peace and dignity championed by the late Yaa-Naa.

It described the late Overlord as not only a symbol of peace and progress but also an architect of both, urging the people of Dagbon to honour his memory by mourning peacefully and preserving the legacy he left behind.

The statement concluded with the messages: “Long Live Dagbon. Long Live Ghana.”
