Tamale football fans have commended FIFA referee Rita Nkansah and her assistants for their exceptional performance in the MTN FA Cup round of 16 match between Karela United FC and Young Apostles at the Aliu Mahama Sports Stadium on February 23, 2025.
Referee Rita, a Lance Corporal, demonstrated impressive confidence and control throughout the game, earning praise from the crowd in Tamale.
She led an all-female refereeing team, including assistants Alice Farizua Chakule and Mary Tei, appointed by the Ghana Football Association.
The team’s outstanding officiating ensured a smooth match, with Karela United FC securing a 1-0 win to progress to the quarterfinals of the prestigious club competition.
Some fans who attended the match praised Rita Nkasanh for her professionalism and authority during the game and called for other referees including the male ones to emulate her good example.
