NEDCo Officials are conducting a mass disconnection exercise in Tamale under the protection of Military Officers, cracking the whip on residents and customers who engaged dubiously in illegal connection.

The exercise follows the pronounced power theft within the Greater Tamale as claimed by NEDCo, VRA, and was reechoed by the Minister of Energy and Green Transition, John Jinapor when he visited the Northern Region to engage the Regional Minister concerning mass illegal consumption of electricity power by the residents.

The areas affected greatly by NEDCo’s exercise today, include Changli, Old Cemetery, St.Charles, and parts of Bilpela.

As part of the disconnection exercise today, Tuesday, 1st July 2025, Military Officers are assigned to the NEDCo disconnection team Officials, offering them protection while they carry out their lawful mandate.

For some time now, NEDCo has been determined to flush out recalcitrants who violate the law by engaging in illegal activities. But the efforts and intervention of the Northern Regional Minister have always saved people’s faces.

Be it as it may, NEDCo has now taken the bull by the horns, by embarking on a non-God fearing mass disconnection exercise as part of their revenue mobilization drive aimed at fixing the revenue shortfalls in the energy sector.

Affected residents or customers are extremely traumatized by the exercise after they have been overtly caught unaware during the exercise.

At the time of filing this report, the exercise was still ongoing and will end at 5:00pm
