NLA Director-General Mohammed Abdul-Salam Pays Tribute to Late Yaa Naa Mahama Abukari II

Director-General of the National Lottery Authority (NLA), Mohammed Abdul-Salam, has expressed deep sorrow over the passing of His Royal Majesty Yaa Naa Mahama Abukari II, describing the late Dagbon King as a remarkable leader whose legacy of peace, unity and dignity will endure for generations.
In a heartfelt message shared on his official Facebook page, Abdul-Salam joined the people of Dagbon and Ghanaians across the country in mourning the revered traditional ruler, offering prayers for his peaceful repose.
Opening his tribute with the Islamic expression “Inna lillahi wa inna ilayhi raji’un” and traditional Dagbani praises, the NLA Director-General reflected on the immense loss to the Kingdom of Dagbon.
“Today, Dagbon mourns the departure of a remarkable King, father and custodian of our rich traditions,” he wrote.
Abdul-Salam, who described himself as a proud son of Dagbon, said he was personally grateful for the late King’s wisdom, guidance and mentorship, noting that the Yaa Naa played a significant role in his personal growth.
He further praised the late monarch’s reign, saying it was marked by dignity, stability and unity, adding that his leadership helped strengthen the Kingdom of Dagbon and would continue to inspire future generations.
The NLA Director-General concluded his message with prayers, asking Allah to forgive the late King’s shortcomings, grant him Jannatul Firdaus and comfort the entire Dagbon Kingdom during this period of grief.
The passing of Yaa Naa Mahama Abukari II has triggered an outpouring of tributes from political leaders, traditional authorities, public officials and citizens, all celebrating his contributions to peace, reconciliation and the preservation of Dagbon’s rich cultural heritage.
“Rest well, Your Majesty. Your legacy lives on,” Abdul-Salam stated.
