NORTHERN REGIONAL EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE SUSPENDS TAMALE NORTH CONSTITUENCY CHAIRMAN

The Northern Regional Executive Committee of NPP led by the Regional Chairman, Mohammed Batimba Samba, has suspended the Constituency chairman of Tamale North, Mohammed Sadat (Chairman Short) for injuring a Polling Station Organizer, Mr. Karim Alhassan in a shooting incident against some Youth group of the party in a brawl.

The decision was arrived at the Regional Executive Committee meeting following a petition brought against the constituency Chairman over his alleged misconduct, which flouted the constitution of the New Patriotic Party.

In a letter signed by the Northern Regional Chairman of the NPP, Mohammed Batimba Samba cited Mohammed Sadat for serious offenses including Shooting and injuring Mr. Karim Alhassan, a polling station organizer, over a misunderstanding on the night of 17th January 2025. Threatening colleague constituency executives at gunpoint during a constituency executive committee meeting.

Other offenses allegedly perpetrated by ‘Chairman Short’ included Leading gun-wielding thugs to forcefully take a party pickup from the driver of the 2024 parliamentary candidate of Tamale North. He is also accused of Leading some men believed to be police officers to break into a private business center of the former Parliamentary Candidate and made away with valuable items, including fertilizer bags, street lights, and hair dryers.

Mr. Mohammed Sadat is also accused of making false accusations and using intemperate language against party leadership on radio, TV, and social media platforms on several occasions.

All these, Among other acts of violence and intimidation against party members, brought the party’s name into disrepute and public ridicule, which constitute misconduct as stipulated in Article 4(7) (1b) and 4(7) (1g) of the party constitution.

Based on these allegations, the Regional Executive Committee has acted on the matter at hand by suspending ‘Chairman Short’, from his current position as the constituency chairman for Tamale North.

The suspension of Chairman Short is of immediate effect pending proceedings from the Regional Disciplinary Committee, which is handling the issue mandated with investigations.

Confusion has since rocked the Tamale North Constituency following the suspension of the constituency Chairman by the Regional Executive Committee. While a section of electoral area coordinators and Polling Agents backed the dismissal of the constituency chairman, others kicked against the decision and called for his reinstatement before all heads loose in the constituency.
