‎As nominations open for the New Patriotic Party (NPP)’s Regional Executive elections, Special Aide to Mohammed Amin Adam, Alhaji Abdul Halim Tikuma, has issued a strong message urging young men in the Northern Region to approach the contest with caution, wisdom, and strategic thinking.

‎In a Facebook post titled “Be Cautious on This Journey: A Message to Young Men of the NPP in the Northern Region,” Abdul Halim Tikuma called on aspiring leaders to carefully assess their readiness before seeking office, stressing that political ambition must be guided by purpose and timing.

‎According to him, not every political season is the right moment for every aspiring leader. He advised young party members to reflect on where they truly belong, understand their strengths, and identify the stage at which they can make the greatest impact.

‎He cautioned against rushing into contests without adequate preparation, noting that leadership is not merely about contesting elections but about understanding the political terrain and serving when the time is right.

‎Abdul Halim also warned young politicians against allowing themselves to be used to advance the interests of others. He observed that, over the years, many young people in Northern Region politics had been drawn into political battles that ultimately benefited others while damaging their own reputations and future prospects.

‎He encouraged the youth to protect their integrity and avoid becoming instruments in divisive political agendas, emphasizing that their political future is too valuable to be sacrificed for temporary gains.

‎Drawing lessons from previous internal party contests, he said many promising political careers had suffered setbacks because individuals ignored warning signs and entered races they were not adequately prepared for.

‎He clarified that his message was not intended to discourage capable young leaders from stepping forward. Instead, he stressed that the NPP needs courageous, intelligent, and principled young people, but they must combine ambition with patience, consultation, and strategic planning.

‎He urged aspiring leaders to seek guidance from experienced party elders, carefully evaluate the political environment, and count the cost before making decisions.

‎Concluding his message, Abdul Halim reminded young party members that temporary popularity and small displays of support should not be mistaken for lasting political success.

‎”This journey requires wisdom, patience, and loyalty to the party, to your community, and to your own future,” he wrote, adding that the NPP in the Northern Region needs its young leaders to emerge at the right time and in the best position to serve effectively.
