Performance of funeral rites of the late Bamvim Lana announced

The Overlord of Dagbon, His Royal Majesty Ya-Na ‘Dr’. Abukari II, has ordered that the final funeral rites of the late Bamvim Lana Mahama Abdulai be performed, scheduled for 9th to 16th January, 2026.

In a statement released today, Tuesday 30th December 2025, and signed by Registrar of the Dagbon Traditional Council, Alhassan Fataw communicates that the performance of the funeral rites will commence on 9th January with the shaving of hair. While Proceed with ‘Buni Wuhibu’ on the 15th of January and climax it with distribution of alms(Sara Taribu) on the 16th January, 2026.

This follows the decision of the Family of the Late Bamvim-Lana Mahama Abdulai to inform Ndani-Ya Na on 10th November 2025 over their resolve to perform the funeral of the late Paramount Chief of Bamvim Traditional Area.

The statement copied the Regional Police Commander, the Regional Military Commander, the Regional NIB Commander calls for security presence and protection to ensure law and order, smooth, and peaceful performance of the funeral rites, reiterating Ya-Na’s ban on handling of sophisticated weapons during performance of the funeral rites.
