Real Tamale United takes a commanding 13-point lead in Zone 1A after derby day win over Northern City

Real Tamale United (RTU) extended their lead in the Access Bank Division One League Zone 1A to 13 points with a thrilling 3-1 win over city rivals Northern City at the Aliu Mahama Sports Stadium on Saturday.

The Pride of the North sealed the victory with three first-half goals. Striker Blabala Bamon opened the scoring within 15 minutes and scored again to complete his brace.

Abdulai Abdul Rashid added the third goal for RTU, making it 3-0 within 30 minutes. Northern City managed to score a consolation goal through Osman Zakaria, after a blunder by RTU goalkeeper Olele.

This win sets RTU up with 47 points, with 8 matches to end the season . Meanwhile, second-place Tamale City will face Yapei United on Sunday, March 16, at the Aliu Mahama Sports Stadium.
