Hon.Rosina Zeinabu Abdul Rahman has been confirmed as the District Chief Executive of Nanton following her overwhelming confirmation by the Assembly Members.
Her confirmation marks a significant milestone as she becomes the first female DCE to occupy the position in the district.
Proceeding her confirmation was the swearing into office of 9 government appointees by a judge.
The Nanton District Assembly, consists of 29 Assembly Members including 9 government appointees.
However, present at the confirmation were 28 members. At the end of the voting process, 24 Assembly Members voted Yes, representing 89 percent of the votes, while only 4 members voted No during the confirmation process.
The outcome of the voting process means the President’s nominee has been overwhelmingly endorsed by the Assembly Members on Tuesday, 29th April 2024.
Present to oversee the confirmation were, the Northern Regional Minister, the MP for Nanton, the acting Northern Regional Chairman of the NDC, and Regional and constituency executives.
The Chairman of the Council of Elders of the NDC in the Northern Region, Kasulilana was also present to witness the confirmation.
Addressing the audience after her confirmation, Hon. Rosina Zenaibu thanked the President for the appointment and pledged to partner every tom dick and Harry especially the traditional leaders to drive home development to the people through education, Agriculture, health delivery, and job opportunities.
On his part, the MP for Nanton says her appointment is in line with the vision of the president to give opportunities to women to participate in the governance system through affirmative action law.
For his part, the Northern Regional Minister, Ali Adolf Mburidiba John expressed commitment to work with the DCE to bring development to the people, emphasizing that he will ensure that Nanton district will always have the first bite on the national booty.
