Real Tamale United FC (RTU) made history on Saturday, March 1, 2025, by defeating Tamale City 2-0 at the Aliu Mahama Sports Stadium.
This victory marked the end of an 11-match winless streak against their bitter rivals , the match was intense, with a scoreless first half in the Access Bank Division One League’s week 18.
However, former Tamale City left back Suleman Mutala broke the deadlock in the 58th minute, sending the stadium into raptures. Blabala Bamon sealed the win with a close-range finish, punishing Tamale City’s push for an equalizer.
Notably, this was RTU’s first victory over Tamale City since the club’s inception. Prior to this match, Tamale City had never lost to their city rivals.
RTU’s win is a significant milestone, extending their lead in the Access bank division one league zone 1A to ten points with ten matches to end the season.
