With just two games left in the Ghana Premier League season, Real Tamale United (RTU) sits at the bottom of the table with 31 points.
Despite the dire situation, caretaker coach Iddi Manzah remains optimistic, suggesting that protest cases could change the league’s final standings and help RTU avoid relegation.
Following Saturday’s 2-0 defeat to Kumasi Asante Kotoko in Nalerigu, Manzah addressed the uncertainty surrounding RTU’s status. “I don’t understand this because this is a game we have just lost.
When we’re done with the league and the GFA finally puts out the officially relegated clubs then one can say we are out, until that is done, we are still in the league,” he stated, emphasizing that nothing is final until the Ghana Football Association (GFA) makes an official announcement.
Manzah highlighted the role of protests in determining the final league standings. “In the game, there are protests. We can finish, and protests may come. Before you realize it, some teams might lose points due to these protests, and we could move up the table.
”So I believe we are not out yet,” he explained. This season has been challenging for RTU, but Manzah’s confidence provides a beacon of hope for the team and its supporters.
The possibility that other teams could be penalized due to successful protests could potentially alter the relegation zone, offering RTU a lifeline. As the season winds down,
RTU’s future hinges not only on their performance in the remaining matches but also on the outcomes of any protest cases. Manzah’s perspective underscores the unpredictable nature of league football, where decisions made off the pitch can significantly impact the final standings.
RTU fans continue to support their team, hoping for a positive outcome both in the upcoming games and in the GFA’s final decisions. The fight for survival in the Ghana Premier League remains intense, with RTU clinging to the belief that they can still secure their place in the top flight.
