Real Tamale United have failed in their bid to return to the Premier League after a 2-1 loss against Techiman Eleven Wonders in the Division One League Playoff staged on Friday, 30th May 2025 at the Accra Sports Stadium.
Real Tamale United fell behind in the First Half as Eleven Wonders took the early lead at the 13th-minute mark.
With serious play and improvement of their game in the second half, RTU managed an equalizer in the 72nd minute through a spot kick, converted by Blabla.
When everyone was convinced the game would travel to extra time, Eleven Wonders mounted pressure on RTU leading to a penalty through a handball. The spot kick was neatly converted by Farouq Armiyaw in the nick of time for a 2-1 lead over Real Tamale United.
The center Referee brought the game to an end immediately after Eleven Wonders shot to the lead from the spot kick as the game did not travel much long after the normal time.
The defeat means RTU has to commence another groundwork as a fresh campaign in the Division One League Zone 1 for the premier league slot next season as the outcome in the playoff today can be labeled as a ‘failure mission.’
Ahead of the playoff, stakes were high with anticipation of qualification to the premier league by RTU fans amid the enjoyment of Goodwill by the team during their stay in Accra. However, fate has a different story for the RTU following the team’s painful loss in the playoff game.
Eleven Wonders have now booked a ticket to the premier league from Zone 1 after they triumphed over Real Tamale United. They join Hoehoe United and Sweduro All Blacks as fresh entrants into the league.
