Real Tamale United have avenged their numerous defeats against Tamale City as they beat the Citizens 2-0 in the Access Division One League match day 18 played at the Aliu Mahama Sports Stadium on Saturday afternoon.
For the first time in the club’s history, they earned bragging rights over their arch-rivals in a local derby game, ending the 7 years of field supremacy powers by the city.
Since coming to force following a metamorphosis from Guan United to Tamale City through a takeover, they have never succumbed to RTU until today. The worst performance has been sharing the spoils with RTU.
Out of the previous 11 encounters between the two clubs, Tamale City had 4 wins, with 7 matches ending in a draw.
Be as it may, the Pride of the North has overturned the narrative as they secured a brace in the second half through Mutala and Blabla at the Aliu Mahama Stadium to condemn Tamale City to a defeat.
