Sagani TV caught their viewers unaware as it called off a rap battle involving two rappers Don Dee and Firdaus, both from the KKC clan.
As viewers including entertainment pundits, music lovers, and fans of the duo stayed glued to their TV sets to watch unprecedented rap battle unfold in their eyes through Tv screens they were taken aback as the Organizers cancelled the rap contest leaving thousands of viewers heavily disappointed for no show.
This follows an outburst of netizens and entertainment pundits condemning the move of Sagani TV and Dagbon Radio to stage a rap battle between the young talented rappers claiming the two media houses are to use the artists to boost their respective brands. While others insinuate they are digging a hole to bury their infant career, especially the loser of the rap contest.
The criticism did not sit well with the organizers, namely Sadiq Cyber and Bra Mudasir as they described it as cynical and far from fetch, boasting that the media stations had already built a solid brand for themselves and did not need to fuel the rap contest to survive, challenging the naysayers to at least organize ‘who is who’ rap show for the musicians at the Tamale Sports Stadium to showcase what they have under their sleeves and generate proceeds out of it for the artists.
In recent times Don Dee and Firdaus have been beefing each other over rap supremacy in Tamale, stirring controversy among music followers as to who is on top of the rap game.
Whilst Firdaus at the initial stages stole the show with two diss tracks released at his opponent, Don Dee re-emerged to cement his rap status as the current best rapper alive in Tamale with two rap battle tracks known as ‘Rap Kparili’ and ‘Nakpachei rapper’.
Following the cancellation of the rap contest, it remains to be seen whether the rappers will still meet face-to-face with lyrical punchlines.
