Students placement to SHSs for 2025/26 academic year closed – Ministry of Education

Ministry of Education has announced that placement of students into Senior High schools and residential status for the 2025/2026 academic year has officially closed.

In a press release today, Saturday, 18th October, signed by the Press Secretary of the Education Minister, Hashimin Mohammed, encouraged parents and guardians to proceed with assigned schools of their wards to complete enrollment formalities and ensure that they settle smoothly for the commencement of academic work.

This means parents who have not secured admissions for their wards cannot do so anymore under this circumstance given this directive by the Ministry.

The Ministry of Education’s statement reaffirms its commitment to providing quality, equitable, and inclusive education for all Ghanaian children and assures the public that every effort is being made to ensure a smooth and successful start to the new academic year across the country.

Today, 18th October 2025, all freshers of Senior High Schools are due to report to their various schools across the country for commencement of their academic journey.

According to the Ministry, about 590,000 first-year Senior High School students are placed into various schools through the computerized system who are due to report today.
