The Actors and Actresses in the Northern Movie Industry have been advised to produce quality movies of international standards that can be set out for a premiere and streamed on digital platforms.
According to MR. Saeed, Vice Chairman of Tallywood Gh, uploading movies onto the digital platforms by filmmakers in Dagbon through subscription, is a new way to rake in revenue from their sweat in making movies.
He was speaking to the media on the sidelines when Talewood Gh launched the 2024 Northern Movies Awards in Tamale, aimed at honoring deserving movie stars who have distinguished themselves by mastering their craft and excelling in their roles in movies.
This year’s Northern Movies Awards will mark its 4th edition after launching its first edition in 2021, followed by 2022 and 2023 awards.
Organizers of the awards have so far presented 2 vehicles, 15 motorbikes, and 32 TV sets to awardees since instituting the awards, marking significant progress made towards beautifying the awards to attract people in the film industry.
Organizers of the Northern Movie Awards also affirmed that the Overall winner for the year will take home a brand new Saloon Car as the ultimate Prize at stake. Many other winners will also take home Dash 5 Sonlink Motor Bike. As the best Director Movie of the year will also be provided with logistics such as a 6D Camera to enhance his/her film works.
For the 2024 Northern Movies Awards, the Actors and Actresses will be filing for nominations in 23 available categories as announced by the Organizing Committee of the awards. Among the categories include the Overall Actor of the Year, Most Popular Actor of the Year, Best Movie Director of the Year, Comedian of the Year, Promising Star Male and Female of the Year. Among others. Additional award categories have been added to this year’s edition which included the Eastern Dagbon Award category and Accra-based Dagbon Filmmakers awards.
In attendance at the launch of the awards were veterans of the Northern Movie industry such as Ahmed Adam, Afa Saani(Lawyer Gbangli), Mr Shani Minister, Buupii Kulikuli, and Kpalinkpaa, among other veterans. Also, present was the creme de la creme’ of the movie industry of the North. They include Mr. Ibu, Aborimahim, Salman, and Gonda.Among hosts of current movers and shakers of the industry.
