Tamale: One confirmed dead at Poloya Fong during IGP’s Special Team Operations

The operations of IGP special team has been put on the spot again following the death of one person in their swoop at the forest behind the ‘Assemblyman’ park in the Aboabo-Poloya Fong, Tamale.

This follows the burning of tricycles and motorbikes belonging to the suspects following a similar operations undertaken at the NOBISCO forests by the Police Special Team aimed at weeding out drug peddlers, armed robberies among other vices posing as security threats to the region.

Following this recent conduct by the IGP special team, many have waged war against their operations, describing it as needless excesses that should have been avoided in enforcing the law. While some called on the Taskforce to halt the operations others urged them to continue with caution devoid of burning of assets of suspects in question.

Just as many thought the Special Operations team under the instructions of the IGP will exercise restraint in their line of duty, one person was left dead during their operations at Poloya Fong in Tamale this afternoon, marking another significant dent on the operations of the Police Special taskforce.

According to eyewitness accounts , upon learning the presence of the police at the vicinity, two people were accelerating their motorbikes to flee from the scene, on their way they met the Police team which asked them to stop for a possible search. While one of the riders complied, the deceased in speed with full force was moving towards the direction of the one of the officers, dodging him in the process, the officer accidentally shot the gun, killing him on the spot.
