TaTU Alumni Association Applauds University Athletes After Impressive Third-Place Finish at UG Invitational Championship

Story by Saibu Terry The Tamale Technical University (TaTU) National Alumni Association has congratulated the university’s athletics team for their impressive performance at the recently concluded University of Ghana (UG) Invitational Athletics Championship held in Legon. In a statement signed by Ibrahim Nurudeen of the Public Affairs Directorate, the Association praised Team TaTU for securing an overall third-place finish in the highly competitive championship, describing the achievement as a reflection of the athletes’ dedication, discipline, and resilience.
According to the statement, the university’s athletes delivered an outstanding performance, winning a total of 15 medals made up of three gold, four silver, and eight bronze medals across various track and field events. The Association highlighted the efforts of several athletes, including Alhassan Yakubu, Ibrahim Barikisu, Abdul-Rashid Nuhu, Abdul-Fatawu Rayhana, Mwangu Genevieve Maharisum, Owusu Ansah Joseph, and Yaboah Richard, as well as the relay teams, for bringing honour and recognition to the institution. ”The achievement is a testament to the hard work, determination, and commitment of the athletes, coaches, technical officials, and the entire Sports Department,” the statement noted. The Alumni Association further commended the university’s management, Sports Directorate, coaches, and support staff for their continuous investment in sports development and for creating opportunities for students to excel both academically and athletically. Reaffirming its commitment to the growth of sports at the university, the Association pledged continued support for initiatives aimed at promoting sporting excellence and holistic student development. The Association also encouraged the athletes to remain focused and continue striving for greater success in future competitions. The UG Invitational Athletics Championship brought together some of the country’s top university athletes, making TaTU’s third-place finish a significant milestone in the institution’s sporting achievements.
