There won’t be any bye-election in Tolon – Ahaj Habib ‘Soya Lana’ beats his chest

Published on 18th January 2025

The MP of Tolon, Alhaj Habib Iddrisu has strongly asserted that there would not be any bye-election in Tolon as speculated by some elements of NDC within the constituency and beyond, insisting that he has won the 2024 parliamentary elections fair and square.

The First Minority Deputy Chief Whip has quickly dismissed the issue, questioning the grounds or basis that will warrant a by-election in the Tolon Constituency after he has been duly elected by the people to serve on his mandate.

When queried about the by-election issue on Tolon Radio, Alhaj Habib known as ‘Soya Lana’ describes the issue as rumor-mongering, lacking legal substance to stand the test of time in any court’s jurisdiction.

The MP insisted that he won the elections with over 6,000 votes and there is no petition in court challenging his election, hence cannot be intimidated, more so, when he had been sworn in as a Member of the 9th Parliament.

“There won’t be any bye-election in Tolon, on what grounds? What is the basis? These are just rumor-mongering, peddled by bicycle riders. I was voted for by the good people of Tolon. And I won the election with ver 6,000 votes difference. In fact, which court is hearing the election petition case of the Tolon constituency regarding the 2024 elections? I won the 2024 elections and was sworn in as the Member of Parliament for the area on the 7th of January 2025. There is no case in court challenging my results or my election as MP for the good people of Tolon”.
