University For Development Studies’ Football Team has arrived in Accra on Sunday, 6th October 2025, after conquering the world at the University games held in Dalian, China.
The entourage including the playing body and the technical staff were greeted with heroic welcome at the Kotoka International Airport led by the Sports Minister, Kofi Adams and other Government Functionaries including Deputy Minister of Roads and Highway and MP for Tamale North, Hon.Alhassan Sayibu Suhuyini.
The players and technical Staff were all spotted wearing their gold medals with excitement and pride upon arrival.
UDS beat Paulista University 2-1 in the Final game to lift the ultimate trophy, becoming the first African University to chalk that feat at the Global stage, etching their names in gold in the world books of records.
Since UDS victory, congratulatory messages have been pouring in for the Northern Pride, eulogizing their remarkable achievement, from the Overlord of Dagbon, Presidency, government Agencies, to Organizations and Individuals alike have all recognized the gallant performance of UDS.
While acknowledging their prodigious performance, it remains to be seen what the state has in store to reward the players as their handsome package for the excellent showings and also for making the country proud.
