VETTING OF MMDCEs: 226 APPLICANTS FROM 16 DISTRICTS VIE FOR APPOINTMENT

The Northern Regional Vetting Committee of MMDCEs has commenced interviewing applicants from various districts who have expressed interest in becoming Chief Executive Officers at the various MMDAs in the region.

The vetting process started yesterday, 19th January 2025, at the Regional Coordinating Council with the Northern Regional NDC chairman, Ali Adolf as the Vetting Committee Chairman.

About 226 applicants from the 16 districts have rendered their CVs for consideration in the MMDCEs portfolio. The Sagnarigu Municipal Assembly received the highest number of applicants with 23 interested people.

They will be screened and pruned to 3 names as the shortlist who will be forwarded to the presidency through the Ministry of Local Government for the final determination.

Speaking to journalists after day one of the vetting process, the Northern Regional Secretary of the NDC, Mohammed Abdul Salam Gulbia expressed satisfaction with the process, insisting that the committee will do a good job of submitting Candidates who are capable of the task at hand.

Mr. Abdul Salam explained that applicants are tested in the interview process by Measuring their Appearance, articulations, understanding of their knowledge of local governance issues, and ability to appreciate the resource challenges of the district.

Vetting of MMDCEs is expected to conclude on Tuesday, 21st January 2024.

Three (3) names will be shortlisted from each district and sent to appointing authorities in Accra for consideration.
