Walewale Catholic Stars qualify for Division One League

History was made at the Kurt Okraku Astro Turf at Winkogo, near Bolgatanga in the Upper East Region. Walewale Catholic Stars beat Real Bolga United 1-0, courtesy Jamal Mbappe, to book a spot in next season’s National Division One League.

The Middle League kicked off with these two clubs and Navrongo Mission Warriors and Zebilla Toende United. Catholic Stars capped a memorable season with an excellent record, winning all games and scoring freely.

For the first time in history, Division One football kisses North East soil. Catholic Stars have made sure of that at last after 12 long years of hard work and misses. The sacrifices of long standing owner and bankroller, Alhassan Fatawu (known as Agama) and head coach Emmanuel Addi Manyem have brought results.

Walewale and environs, and North East Region for that matter cannot wait to offer various kinds of support to their heroic club next season. The town’s Astro Turf will be the place to be as Division One’s new baby strives to prove itself in Ghana’s second tier football.
