The elders and sub-chiefs of the Nanton Skin have warned that they will resist any attempt by Nanton Naa Mahamadu Bawah to move and settle in the community.
According to the people of Nanton, they do not recognize Naa Mahamadu Bawah, who was enskinned by Ya-Na, as the chief of the traditional area, insisting rather that Zoosali Lana Aduna remains their true chief.
This follows a purported information making the rounds that Naa Mahamadu Bawah (V) has resolved to move and settle in Nanton at the Palace after habitating in Nanton-Zoo along the Yendi road all this while since his enskinment to the skin.
In a video circulating on social media, the chief Linguist whose words were heard being translated to English to security operatives who were invited to a meeting in Nanton, asserts forcibly that the Ya-Na enskined chief is not welcomed in Nanton as they will only open their arms to welcome Zoosali Lana, Aduna but not him.
In April 2019, almost six years ago, the Overlord of Dagbon Ya-Na Abukari II enskinned Mahamadu Bawah as Chief of the Nanton Traditional area by Dagbon Traditions and Customs.
However, this was resisted fiercely by the people of Nanton traditional area after Zoosali Lana Aduna forced his way to the throne through support from the people in blatant disregard to the authority of the Overlord of Dagbon, Ya-Na Abukari II.
This singular action has compelled Naa Mahamadu Bawah to abandon the palace in Nanton and choose Nanton Zoo, which falls under his jurisdiction as his alternative home.
