We’ll resist attempts by Gov’t to introduce new taxes – Minority

Published on March 3 2025

The Minority in Parliament has warned that they will fiercely resist all attempts by the current government to introduce new taxes to burden the ordinary Ghanaian.

According to the minority, having promised to scrap taxes such as E-levy, Betting Tax, and Covid levy they should not be seen introducing new taxes to make up revenue shortfalls of government.

Addressing a press conference dubbed by the Minority as the ‘True State of the Nation’s Address’, the Former Finance, Dr. Minister Mohammed Amin Adam chided the Government for its intention to roll out new taxes on mining, telecommunications, banking, and real estate to replace taxes intended to be removed.

“They claim will remove E-levy and Covid levy, but what they not telling Ghanaians is that they will replace them with new taxes on mining, telecommunications, banking, and real estate. These costs will eventually be passed on to the consumer”.
