Afa Abdul Rauf(Afa Abrofu) of Anbariya Sunni Community has been banned by Overlord of Dagbon, Ya-Na Abukari II from delivering Islamic sermon henceforth.
Communicating the decision of Overlord to the leaders of Ambariya summoned to the Gukpe Naa Palace this morning, the Chief Linguist announced that Afa Abrofu is banned from all forms of preachings including social gatherings such as naming ceremonies, weddings, funerals, and other essential social events.
This follows a viral online video circulating on social media, captured Afa Abrofu preaching against the appellations of Ya-Na Abukari II.
In the video, Afa Abrofu, is heard saying in Dagbani, no Chief should be likened to the Owner of Universe, neither the provider of food for mankind.
This statement from Afa Abrofu was deemed as direct attack on the person of Ya-Na, disparaging his kingship, and undermining the authority of the Overlord of Dagbon since these appellations are synonymous to the Kingship of the Overlord.
Not long ago, Ya-Na summoned Islamic Clerics from various sects in Dagbon to eschew hate sermons, and sanitize their Islamic preachings devoid of antagonism, and intemperate language, warning to crack the whip on preachers who violate the rules set.
To serve as deterrent to others, Afa Abrofu has just been made a scapegoat of the offense after flouting the laws.
