Aspiring National Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Hon. Boakye Agyarko, has intensified his nationwide campaign tour with a series of engagements in the Northern Region, rallying support from party executives, elders, patrons, and grassroots members ahead of the party’s internal elections.
During separate meetings in Yendi and Tamale, Hon. Agyarko met with the Northern Regional Council of Elders and Patrons, Regional Executives, Constituency Executives, and other key stakeholders of the party to share his vision for rebuilding and repositioning the NPP for future electoral success.
The campaign tour received a significant boost when the Member of Parliament for Gushegu, Hon. Alhassan Tampuli, and the Member of Parliament for Kpandai, Hon. Matthew Nyindam, publicly declared their support for Hon. Agyarko’s bid. Speaking on behalf of MPs from the Northern enclave, the two lawmakers expressed confidence in his leadership credentials and ability to unite the party.
Addressing party faithful, Hon. Agyarko underscored the importance of unity, discipline, and strategic reforms within the NPP. He noted that while the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC) would ultimately be judged by Ghanaians based on its performance in office, the NPP must focus on strengthening its internal structures, improving the welfare of party members, and reconnecting with its grassroots support base.
According to him, the party’s path back to power in the 2028 general elections depends on its ability to remain united and purpose-driven.
“The NPP must rebuild, reunite, and reposition itself to regain the confidence of Ghanaians. We need stronger structures, motivated party members, and a clear strategy that will prepare us adequately for victory in 2028,” he stated.
Hon. Agyarko also reaffirmed his commitment to working closely with the party’s 2028 presidential candidate, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, as well as all stakeholders across the country to build a formidable and effective campaign machinery.
As part of his visit, the former Energy Minister donated 500 bags of cement and an undisclosed amount of money towards the construction of the Northern Regional NPP Office. He later toured the project site to assess the progress of work and encourage those overseeing the project.
He concluded his visit by expressing gratitude to the Northern Regional leadership, elders, patrons, constituency executives, and grassroots members for their warm reception and unwavering support for the party’s growth and development.
The engagements form part of Hon. Boakye Agyarko’s ongoing nationwide consultations as he seeks to garner support for his bid to become the next National Chairman of the New Patriotic Party.
